Nintendo’s US eShop lists a preorder option for Minecraft for Nintendo Switch 2 and offers the digital Standard Edition at no cost to owners of a digital Nintendo Switch version by January 31, 2027. Nintendo lists the game’s release for October 27, 2026.
Who qualifies for the free digital Standard Edition
The offer is for people who already own a digital version of Minecraft for Nintendo Switch. The no-cost edition is the digital Minecraft Standard Edition for Nintendo Switch 2.
Nintendo also lists discounted preorders for the Deluxe Collection and Ultimate Collection through January 31, 2027. The storefront does not give the discount amounts.
Deadline, scheduled release, and US price
Nintendo’s US listing sets January 31, 2027 as the deadline for the free Standard Edition offer and the discounted collection preorders. It schedules Minecraft for Nintendo Switch 2 to release on October 27, 2026.
The regular digital price shown on Nintendo’s US storefront is $29.99 USD.
Features listed for the Switch 2 edition
Nintendo lists Vibrant Visuals, which brings enhanced lighting and shadow effects. The feature is unavailable during split-screen play and in certain Marketplace worlds and content.
Players can carry Nintendo Switch worlds over to the Switch 2 edition. It also includes the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack, with 15 tracks and 40 player skins.
What the terms mean for physical Switch copies
Nintendo’s offer specifies ownership of a digital Nintendo Switch version. A physical copy on its own does not meet that stated condition.
