Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Nintendo Switch 2 is listed at $519.99 in the US and is scheduled to arrive on October 29, 2026. It brings a green-and-gold Joy-Con 2 pair, a black-and-gold dock and Zelda-inspired detailing to the standard Switch 2 platform. The important catch is printed in plain English: the game is sold separately.
A themed Switch 2, not a new platform
The anniversary edition keeps the published Switch 2 platform specifications rather than introducing a different performance class. Its handheld display measures 7.9 inches with a 1080p resolution, and internal storage is 256GB, with part of that capacity used by the system. Storage can be expanded with a microSD Express card sold separately.
It supports the console’s three play modes—TV, tabletop and handheld. When docked, compatible games can output at up to 4K and 60 fps with a compatible television. The anniversary treatment is therefore visual and collector-focused: the black-and-gold dock carries Triforce-inspired decoration, while the Joy-Con 2 controllers use green-and-gold finishes and Zelda-themed details.

If you are buying your first Switch 2 and already wanted the themed hardware, the bundle delivers the full console setup in one box. If you already own a Switch 2, the decision is much narrower: you would be paying for the anniversary finish and another console rather than a hardware upgrade.
The separate-game detail matters because the $519.99 price does not include the software many Zelda fans might expect from a celebratory package. The console and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake are separate products, so budget for the game independently if that is part of your plan.
Matching accessories and their US prices
Nintendo is also offering a coordinated accessory lineup. The Zelda-themed Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller – The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition is listed at $99.99. A version with a display stand is listed at $109.99. The matching carrying case with screen protector is listed at $39.99.

The announcement also identifies the Pro Controller and display-stand bundle as exclusive to Nintendo Store, Nintendo NEW YORK and Nintendo SAN FRANCISCO. That restriction applies to the accessory bundle, not to the console itself.
Preorders have been uneven in the US
US preorder availability has fluctuated, with retailer sellouts and rapidly changing listings reported around the launch. That makes the purchase decision more urgent for collectors, but it does not establish how many consoles Nintendo will produce or when additional stock will appear.
The safest rule is simple: do not pay a scarcity premium just because a retailer temporarily shows no stock. Nintendo has announced the anniversary hardware and its price, but no production quantity or formal restock schedule is part of that announcement. Availability can change before the October 29 release date.
Zelda-themed hardware has a familiar history
Nintendo has used Zelda designs across several generations of hardware. A Zelda-themed Game Boy Advance SP appeared alongside The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap in 2004, followed by a Zelda-themed Wii U associated with The Wind Waker HD in 2013 and a Tears of the Kingdom-themed Switch OLED in 2023.
The Switch 2 edition follows that collector-hardware tradition, but its pitch is unusually focused: distinctive colors, dock artwork and matching accessories rather than a bundled game or a change to the platform’s core specifications.
For a first-time Switch 2 buyer who loves the design, the $519.99 package is the straightforward choice. Existing owners have a tougher calculation: the value is almost entirely in the Zelda finish, themed accessories and collector appeal—not in extra performance. And remember to leave room in the budget for the game.
