NVIDIA announced a $1 billion commitment over five years for U.S. science and research on October 8, 2026, at the Science: A New Golden Age event in Washington, D.C. The company named three support channels and linked its work to four technical areas in Genesis Mission phase 2.

Three channels for the commitment

NVIDIA identified support for higher-education research institutions, development of quantum computing in the United States, and cloud service providers serving U.S. government mission needs. The announcement also named quantum computing, healthcare and energy security as fields important to U.S. science and research.

The three channels describe where the commitment is directed. NVIDIA did not assign a separate dollar amount to any one of them.

Four Genesis Mission phase 2 fields

NVIDIA said it is collaborating on phase 2 Genesis Mission awards in quantum computing, fusion, accelerator design and microelectronics. Quantum computing appears both among these award areas and among the commitment’s broader support channels; the other three fields are named in connection with the phase 2 awards.

A five-year commitment

The $1 billion figure covers NVIDIA’s announced commitment over five years. The October 8 announcement describes future support for U.S. science and research.
