Just a month after the launch of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, a graphics card that is faster than the Titan X and much cheaper, Nvidia hasn't stopped there. The company has updated what will again become its flagship hardware. The Titan Xp brings a fully enabled Pascal GP102 chip, 12 GB of GDDR5X memory, a 384-bit bus, and a price that freezes the blood.
AMD's graphics cards are powerful, but most enthusiasts agree that there won't be a true high-end duel until the RX Vega hardware reaches the market. That gives Nvidia a bit more time, and all it needs to do is squeeze its Pascal architecture. The GeForce GTX 1080 Ti is impressive no matter how you look at it; however, in the company's eyes, it cannot occupy the top step. That place belongs to the Titan series, which was slightly displaced by the 1080 Ti's virtues but restored with the debut of the Titan Xp.
There's no cutting corners here: The Titan Xp uses the same GPU as the Nvidia Quadro P6000. 3,840 CUDA cores, a boost clock of 1,582 MHz, 12 GB of GDDR5X memory, a 384-bit bus, and a bandwidth of 547.7 GB/s lead its technical specifications. Obviously, SLI support is there, as is G-SYNC. Nvidia states on its official page that the card's maximum resolution is 7,680 x 4,320 pixels, in other words, 8K at 60 Hz. Despite adjustments to its clock speed and the full use of the Pascal chip, the Titan Xp has no reason to change its TDP, remaining at 250 watts, just like the Titan X and the 1080 Ti.
Logically, the Titan Xp is expected to be available in very limited quantities, and its price is the same as we saw at the debut of the Titan X: $1,200. What does it deliver in exchange for such an investment? Without benchmarks it's hard to say, but its specifications suggest 10-12 percent more performance compared to the Titan X, and 7-9 percent compared to the 1080 Ti. In short: If life has allowed you to remove money from the equation, this is the graphics card you're looking for.
