For that, you have your magic staff, which equipped with three different runes can cause different statuses on your enemies (fire will damage them slowly, ice will slow their movements, and thunder will leave them stunned for a few moments). Each level you clear will reward you with gold that you can spend on upgrades for the runes to deal more damage.
