Traditional cable services have become true fossils, and streaming platforms are already taking their place for the wrong reasons. Concepts like "cord-cutting" and "subscription hopping" lead users toward FAST (Free advertising-supported streaming television) signals and IPTV in general, but besides the famous channel lists, it's also necessary to get a compatible player. Today we came across Open TV, which presents a minimalist and distraction-free interface.
Everything seems to indicate that Netflix will raise its prices again. At the same time, Disney Plus (and the rest of its universe) confirmed increases on the other side of the pond, which will take effect on October 17. Extending our loyalty to services like Max, Prime, and Apple TV can cost more than $60 a month, a number that honestly isn't for everyone these days.
Alternatives? First of all, FAST, ad-supported streaming television. Pluto TV tops the list, followed by DistroTV, and in the United States they swear by options like Tubi and Freebie TV. However, there's also the world of IPTV in general. The main multimedia players can process/load IPTV lists without too much difficulty, but Open TV aims to provide a simpler and more direct experience.
How to watch IPTV channels with Open TV
Obviously, Open TV follows the path of other similar players and does not enable access to any IPTV channel by default. It is the user's responsibility to find their own sources, although we have already shared a good starting point in the past. In fact, the first thing Open TV does is request a list, either local or as a URL.
The interface is divided into three sections: "All", Categories, and Favorites. It also offers options to separate livestreams from movies and series, but the idea is to make good use of the internal search. The organization of the categories depends purely on the original file, and everything becomes very confusing when more than one list is loaded.
When we select a channel, its content will open in a new window, and it's enough to hover over it to access additional commands like subtitles, secondary languages, volume and fullscreen control. Finally, Open TV is compatible with Windows, Mac OS (both x64 and ARM), and various flavors of Linux.
