OpenAI and Atlassian expand their partnership around Rovo
OpenAI says its collaboration with Atlassian began in 2023. The expanded agreement names GPT-6 Astra and the GPT-5.6 series; OpenAI says they are intended to power agents across Atlassian’s platform and Rovo. For more on GPT-6 Astra, read our earlier coverage.
Atlassian’s Teamwork Graph connects organizational people, projects, documents, and decisions. OpenAI describes it as a source of organizational context for Rovo and connected workflows.
The Jira and Confluence connections the companies describe
OpenAI says Atlassian has launched an extension that brings Jira work items, Confluence content, and people into ChatGPT and Codex prompts. Access to relevant Atlassian information through connected workflows is subject to appropriate permissions, according to OpenAI.
OpenAI also described pinned Atlassian Home context in ChatGPT and Codex, including assigned work, recent Looms, projects, and Bitbucket pull requests.
Separately, Atlassian says Codex agents connect to Jira through Symphony. Plans, comments, and reviews stay attached to the Jira work item.
Deeper Jira-agent workflows remain under exploration
OpenAI describes deeper Jira integrations as being explored. The possible workflows include assigning work to agents, tracking progress, capturing decisions, and reviewing results. OpenAI also described potential work with DX to measure development speed, cycle time, and developer experience while keeping people in control.
