The earlier Google Cloud TPU report
On June 27, 2025, a report attributed to The Information said OpenAI had started using Google Cloud TPUs for ChatGPT and related services. That account concerned cloud computing; the later report concerned a plan to buy Google AI chips.
OpenAI has a separate in-house chip effort. NeoTeo previously covered OpenAI’s Jalapeño chip, a project distinct from the reported Google chip plan.
