The Oppo A78 suits buyers looking for a 5G phone with a large display; its main compromises are pixel density and refresh rate, both lower than those of most phones of its time. The 6.56-inch IPS LCD display has 720 × 1612 px resolution, 269 ppi and a 90 Hz refresh rate. It offers plenty of screen area, but its density and refresh rate trail those of most phones launched around the same time.
At 188 g and 8 mm thick, the phone weighs less and is slimmer than most phones of its time. It has IP54 and IPX4 resistance. Connectivity includes 5G, NFC, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.3 and Dual Nano-SIM. Stereo speakers and a 3.5 mm audio jack are also included.
