Oracle and OpenAI announced an expanded collaboration on October 27, 2026, with four offerings for business software: Oracle AI Workspace for ChatGPT-based access to approved workflows, Oracle App Composer for Codex-assisted app building, Oracle AI Security Mesh for managed security testing, and Oracle AI SMB Bundle for small businesses. Oracle described the product plans as general direction, not a commitment to deliver specific functionality or timing, and said development, release, timing and pricing may change.

Oracle AI Workspace is designed to connect approved workflows

Richard Lam describes an earlier Oracle Applications Lab workflow in which Codex gathers information for analyses, reports or applications.

Oracle AI Workspace is designed to bring OpenAI models together with Oracle applications, business data and cloud services through ChatGPT plugins. Oracle named Oracle Fusion Applications, Oracle NetSuite, Oracle AI Database and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) among the systems Workspace is intended to connect. The plugins are meant to retrieve information, carry out approved workflows and take actions alongside Oracle systems.

An earlier Oracle Applications Lab workflow offers a concrete example of how Codex was being used inside the company. Richard Lam, group vice president at Oracle Applications Lab, described a process in which business users state an outcome, then Codex plans which internal services to call, gathers information and produces an analysis, report or application.

OpenAI’s October 27 announcement cited Oracle’s earlier figures of 130,000 active ChatGPT users and more than 95,000 active Codex users. It also described an Oracle recruiting-research task that had taken two to four days to compile and could be prepared in 15 to 20 minutes with ChatGPT Work. Those figures and the example concern Oracle’s earlier use of the tools.

App Composer and Security Mesh address different enterprise jobs

Oracle App Composer is intended to help employees build enterprise applications with Codex and other AI tools, connect them to approved Oracle data and workflows, and deploy them on OCI. Oracle says the design includes identity, permissions, networking, audit and application life-cycle controls. It also names OCI Kubernetes Engine and Oracle Autonomous AI Database among the services App Composer can access, and says the tool supports APEXlang, a way to build applications generatively without opaque code that is difficult to maintain.

Oracle AI Security Mesh is designed as a managed service that uses OpenAI cyber models to help find and fix vulnerabilities across OCI, other clouds and on-premises environments. Customers would define the authorized testing locations and scope; Oracle says it would manage the testing infrastructure, independent validation and safeguards intended to reduce outage or business-disruption risks.

The SMB Bundle and U.S. Marketplace serve different purposes

Oracle announced Oracle AI SMB Bundle as free to start, with $12,000 in annual Oracle cloud credits. The package combines ChatGPT Business, Oracle AI Workspace, Codex, Oracle App Composer, OCI and NetSuite QuickStart. Oracle describes NetSuite QuickStart as a foundation for core operations such as invoicing and cash flow. Terms, conditions and restrictions apply.

Separately, OpenAI said U.S. Oracle customers can purchase the OpenAI API, Codex and ChatGPT Work through Oracle Marketplace using existing procurement processes and eligible Oracle Universal Credits. That statement names a specific U.S. purchasing route for those OpenAI services.
