On October 29, 2026, Orange Cyberdefense announced a partnership with Mistral AI that gives it early access to a Mistral Large 4 variant optimized for cybersecurity. Orange plans to integrate the model gradually into selected customer-facing operational services, beginning with security testing and incident work. The agreement names Orange Cyberdefense as Mistral AI’s first European managed security service provider (MSSP) design partner. (Orange’s announcement)

The planned work spans security testing and incident response

Orange says the initial workflows include penetration testing and technical audits, where the model is intended to help teams explore attack scenarios. The other focus is incident investigation and response, including analysis of traces and reconstruction of attacks. These are planned uses for selected services, not a broad integration across every Orange Cyberdefense operation.

Specialists keep responsibility for critical actions

Orange says the planned safeguards include managed access, traceability, security testing of the model, and human oversight. Specialists will remain responsible for critical actions. Orange also says the computing capacity for models dedicated to its cybersecurity operations will be located in Europe.

The partnership fits Orange’s stated vendor-agnostic approach: the company says it selects tools according to customer needs, including data protection, regulatory compliance, and resilience. In describing the project, Orange Cyberdefense CEO Hugues Foulon said the work would combine AI with his teams’ expertise and the company’s Cyber Threat Intelligence.

The cybersecurity agreement follows earlier Orange–Mistral work

The “first European MSSP design partner” description applies to managed cybersecurity. Light Reading reported earlier Orange–Mistral work on network management, including traffic management and predictive maintenance, as well as Codestral’s use in Orange Business’s Live Intelligence software-development offering. Its article was published on February 12, 2025.
