Editorial report
Oscal Modern 8 8 GB / 256 GB / Global technical sheet
The Oscal Modern 8 suits buyers looking for a large-screen phone with more battery capacity than most phones of its time. The trade-off is its display and connectivity: screen clarity and brightness are limited, and connectivity ranks among the weakest of its time. Its overall NeoScore is 4.9.
The 6.75-inch IPS LCD display has a 90 Hz refresh rate, 720 × 1600 px resolution, 260 ppi pixel density, and 450-nit brightness. Its refresh rate is lower than that of most phones launched around the same time, while pixel density and brightness are among the weakest. Buyers who prioritize a sharper or brighter screen face a clear limitation. The phone weighs 214 g and is 9.1 mm thick, both higher than the figures for most phones of its time.
The Unisoc Tiger T616 is paired with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB of expandable storage. Performance is typical for phones of its time. Its 50 MP camera records 1080p video at 30 fps and has an f/1.8 aperture. Camera performance is typical, though its 1/2.76″ sensor is smaller than that of most phone cameras of the period.
The 6000 mAh battery has more capacity than most, but 18 W charging is slower than on most phones of its time. The phone has Dual Nano-SIM, USB Type-C, a 3.5 mm audio jack, and GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou navigation. It is best suited to buyers who put battery capacity ahead of screen clarity and connectivity; the overall NeoScore of 4.9 sums up that balance.
