But there's life beyond Netflix and YouTube, and one of the biggest stars of web entertainment is IPTV. Thousands of channels waiting just a click away, without limits. How do we turn a click into a remote command? Easy: we need an app for that.
Among the most popular is OTTplayer, a name derived from 'Over The Top,' an alternative term for internet television. OTTplayer is free and works with half a dozen platforms, plus it offers a web version for regular browsers. If you want to set up free IPTV on your Smart TV with OTTplayer, you'll find that, unlike other apps, it requires several steps. Let's walk through them one by one.
How to Configure Free IPTV on Your Smart TV
1) Go to the official OTTplayer page and create an account. Username, email, and password. Nothing special—just basic credentials to get going. The verification email might come in Russian, but it's intuitive enough.
2) Visit your Smart TV's app store, search for OTTplayer, and install it. The exact process varies by TV model, but if you've installed apps before, OTTplayer is just another one.
3) Launch OTTplayer on your Smart TV, go to settings (the gear icon), and enter the account details from step 1. Also give your device a name for easy recognition.
4) Return to the OTTplayer website, log in, and hover over your avatar (top right). From the dropdown, click Playlists.

6) Back on your Smart TV, the list of free IPTV channels should appear. If not, hit Refresh.
