Paleontological STatistics is a program for scientific, paleontological, and statistical analysis. Its environment lets you manipulate data, create plots, and run univariate statistics, multivariate statistics, ecological analysis, time series analysis, spatial analysis, and more. It is especially recommended for professionals who work with scientific data, allowing them to analyze research results in a simple and orderly way. Additionally, you can use external plugins such as Google Maps, surface charts, and data management functions.
Univariate and Multivariate Analysis
After downloading the program from its official page, you'll see an interface dominated by a large spreadsheet. To analyze univariate data (which requires only one variable), use the built-in functions to calculate basic statistical attributes, higher-level calculations, and so on. Simply enter a variable in a column, select it, and choose a univariate function from the Univariate menu; a window will appear with the results.
For multivariate analyses, you'll find many functions to compute data that require multiple variables, such as genetic sequence statistics and clustering among many other functions. To use them, enter data in two columns and choose Multivariate from the menu.
Modeling and Ecological Statistics
Another good option is Model. This tool offers different modeling methods, allowing you to build linear, nonlinear, logarithmic spiral curves, and more. Once you select a method, the platform draws the curve and you don't have to do anything else.
You'll also find ecological statistics that help determine the variation in several parameters of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems.
