We're in 2015 and still can't enjoy flying cars and hoverboards. The future Marty McFly showed us pales in comparison to ours, but Pepsi surprises us: Pepsi Perfect, the drink from Back to the Future II, will become a reality.
People who grew up watching Back to the Future Part II are still waiting for flying cars, a hoverboard (the flying skateboard), and self-lacing shoes. But there's one product fans of the movie will soon be able to buy: Pepsi Perfect. Yes, the same drink Marty McFly has when he arrives in the future. Pepsi will launch a limited edition of Pepsi Perfect of only 6,500 bottles, sold at $20.15 each. It's worth clarifying that the drink is a regular Pepsi inside a bottle with the same design as the one served to McFly in the retro café of Hill Valley.
In other words, Pepsi Perfect will have the same taste as a regular Pepsi with sugar. Unfortunately, the announcement seems to have been published a bit ahead of time, since Pepsi Perfect will only go on sale on October 21, the same date of McFly's arrival to the future in the movie. So far, it has only been announced in the United States, and Pepsi will distribute the first 1,500 bottles for free to someone dressed as Marty McFly at the New York Comic Con that begins this October 9.
With only 6,500 bottles in production, it's clear this is going to be a collector's piece. But at the end of the day, we mustn't forget it's a regular Pepsi inside a special bottle, so it's hard to get too excited. The prototypes we saw of flying cars and hoverboards still haven't arrived in our 2015 (at least not in the way they were depicted in the movies). Even so, soon we'll have a Pepsi Perfect. Something is something.
