Phoronix reported on October 23, 2026, that a correction for AMD Zen 5-and-newer TLB-size reporting had been merged into Linux 7.4. A translation lookaside buffer (TLB) is the processor feature whose size Linux reports in /proc/cpuinfo and similar interfaces.

Why Linux under-reported TLB sizes

According to Phoronix, AMD began reporting TLB sizes in multiples of 32 with Zen 5, and Linux had not accounted for that change. The kernel consequently reported sizes below the correct values.

What the Linux 7.4 correction changes

The reported correction updates TLB-size information for AMD Zen 5-and-newer processors, including Ryzen and EPYC, in /proc/cpuinfo and similar interfaces. It changes the system information Linux reports, not the processors’ physical TLB capacity. The reported change concerns information accuracy, not a measured CPU performance gain.

Linux 7.4 is the reported upstream merge target. A distribution’s release of a kernel containing the correction is a separate step.
