Pixel art is not only a fabulous form of digital art, but it has also served as a starting point for a great number of successful games (old and modern). However, Hakusi Katei, also known by the alias Monoli, offers us two visual tricks that take the magic of pixel art and 8-bit graphics anywhere. On the one hand we have Pixel Mirror, with an ideal format to use as a necklace, and on the other appears Pixel Window, an improved version that is on the way.
Pixel art is a perfect case of "easy to learn, hard to master". Anyone can download a basic app or explore the endless online offerings and start painting pixels, but you need to accumulate many, many hours of flight time. You also need several sources of inspiration, however, these developments by Hakusi Katei, alias Monoli, have enormous potential. These are the Pixel Mirror and Pixel Window crystals, which transform everything that passes through them into pixels.
A Look at Pixel Mirror
If we go by his official X-Twitter account, Pixel Mirror has been on the market for about three years. The final result puts the image "upside down and mirrored", but that doesn't make it any less remarkable. Monoli explains that all pieces are handmade, and each one has its own characteristics. Pixel Mirror is available in four versions: Transparent, Forest Green, Gray, and "GreenBack". The price is 19,800 yen in his official store (something like 113-114 euros), but apparently there are no international shipments... and it's sold out.
Pixel Window, the Big Brother
On the other hand, Pixel Window is a recent development. It is still in the prototype phase, and the images suggest it is something closer to a cube, but Monoli's idea is to "Minecraftize" landscapes without electricity. The video looks convincing (up to a point), however, personally I would like to see more demos. Some artists on X-Twitter indicate that it could become an essential part of any kit, therefore, the demand already exists.
Update: Monoli indicates that the next window for international shipments will open in August, and that he has already started creating an optimized website with English translation and a reservation system.
