On September 16, 2026, PlayStation announced two new wireless headsets for PS5: PlayStation Pulse, planned for selected markets during the 2026 holiday season, and Pulse Edge, planned for early 2027. Both pair PlayStation Link with Bluetooth and use custom planar magnetic drivers; Edge adds active noise cancellation and a removable boom microphone.

What PlayStation Pulse and Pulse Edge share

The PlayStation Pulse feature trailer depicts the headset’s planar drivers, simultaneous PlayStation Link and Bluetooth connections, microphone noise rejection and rotating ear cushions.

Both headsets use custom planar magnetic drivers, which move a flat diaphragm between magnets to produce sound. PlayStation says the design is intended to deliver deeper bass while retaining clarity.

PlayStation Link works with compatible PS5 consoles, PlayStation Portal, PC and Mac devices. Both headsets can connect to a PlayStation Link device and a compatible Bluetooth device at the same time. Each includes a USB-C PlayStation Link adapter, an integrated microphone with AI-powered noise rejection, built-in volume controls and rotating ear cushions that let the headset lie flat. Both are planned in White and Midnight Black.

How Pulse Edge differs

The Pulse Edge feature trailer depicts its removable boom microphone, carrying case, flat-folding ear cups and game/chat controls, alongside PlayStation’s presentation of ANC.

PlayStation specifies four magnets per driver for PlayStation Pulse and eight for Pulse Edge. The Edge also has active noise cancellation (ANC), a removable boom microphone, a concealed-microphone option and a carrying case. Its listed controls include a built-in balance adjustment for PS5 game and chat audio.
