They say second parts are never good, but Diablo II laughs at that supposed rule. With more than twenty years on its shoulders, the game still holds a privileged position, and it is enjoyed by a gigantic community that doesn't hesitate to create mods and patches to expand its universe. One of those mods is Project Diablo 2, which includes greater flexibility and diversity for builds, adjustments to skills, items with optimized balance, and several additional improvements.
Many players of Diablo II (and why not, of the franchise in general) are beyond the expression hardcore. Requests for an updated/remastered version continue to multiply, but after what happened with Warcraft 3 Reforged, it's likely that Blizzard will take it easy. What's the alternative? That fans continue development on their own, creating new resources and servers, without sacrificing complexity. Special builds, new abilities, low-level changes... everything is on the table, but if you don't know where to start, maybe Project Diablo 2 is what you need.

The FAQ of Project Diablo 2 suggests that its objective is to maintain the experience of Diablo II: Lord of Destruction and offer consistent ladder resets, while improving the game as if its development had never stopped. In other words, it is improved version, private server and expanded universe at once. The video by Dbrunski125 does a great job exploring its main aspects, like modifications to Frozen Orb, Meteor and Grizzly attacks, but Project Diablo 2 also adds new abilities, and includes many quality of life changes, starting with a dedicated launcher, and several keybinds.
