PSBox Cloud Gaming v0.9.5, released October 10, 2026, at 15:50 GMT, adds voice chat through a DualSense microphone or connected headset, according to the project’s release notes. The update spells out separate formats for microphone capture and voice transmission, along with several audio controls.

What v0.9.5 changes in voice chat

The microphone captures audio as 48 kHz, mono, 16-bit PCM. For transmission, the release notes specify Opus at 24 kbps, sent in WebRTC data-channel packets. Capture describes the audio entering the app; transmission describes how voice is encoded for sending.

The update also synchronizes the DualSense mute button with its orange LED, adds a live audio-level meter and suppresses controller vibration while the built-in microphone is active.

What PSBox requires

PSBox is an unofficial homebrew client for Xbox Cloud Gaming on PS5. The project README says the console must support homebrew and be able to run directory-style apps; it gives ShadowMountPlus as one example of an app loader. The project says Game Pass Ultimate is required for most of its catalog and also lists free-to-play games and a “Your games” tab.

Sign-in uses a code entered on a phone or computer. The project says that sign-in is stored in PPSA99810/account.json and warns users not to share the file. Its README also says the in-app updater accepts packages signed with the project’s key.

Cloud gaming, Remote Play and video output

Xbox Cloud Gaming gives PSBox access to Microsoft’s cloud catalog. The project also lists an Xbox Remote Play feature under “My consoles” for streaming a user’s own Xbox to the PS5. They are separate routes: one streams games from the cloud catalog; the other connects to the player’s console.

For cloud play, the project describes a 1080p, 60 fps stream and PS5-GPU upscaling to as much as 4K with AMD FSR 1 or Anime4K. The 4K figure refers to the upscaled output. The project says it is not affiliated with Microsoft or Sony, and warns that Microsoft may change or block services the client relies on.
