Quandl is an Excel add-in that lets you pull a large amount of economic and financial information directly into your spreadsheet, putting Quandl's database at your fingertips.
What data can you access?
In your active worksheet, you can get information on currencies, stocks, interest rates, asset management, and industry data, among many other types of data.
Installing the add-in
After downloading the Quandl.xlam file from its official page, you'll see an Excel worksheet open, and a pop-up alert will appear asking you to trust Quandl because it poses no threats.
A new option named Quandl will now appear in the top menu. Click the Preferences icon, and the add-in will ask for an authentication code, which you can obtain by registering on the Quandl website.
Everything is now configured and ready to use. Simply search for the data you need, select it, and insert it into a cell. The code inserted into the worksheet is the one you searched for from Quandl's database. And since it's impossible to remember every code, the environment handles this tedious task for you.
This utility is a great option for instantly obtaining economic and financial data in Excel. A link will appear pointing to the data source.
Quandl is a free add-in available for Microsoft Excel documents.
