RedHunt: An All-in-One Platform
RedHunt is an all-in-one platform focused on covering any need when it comes to emulating attacks and identifying threats in systems, online applications, and other resources. In the adversary emulation category, we find things like Caldera, Zed Attack Proxy, the host and service locator Nmap, and of course, the super package of vulnerabilities and pentesting, Metasploit. Yeti and Harpoon handle threat intelligence, while logging and monitoring fall under Kolide Fleet and the ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana). One important detail to highlight is that RedHunt is not designed for beginners. All modules require a certain level of prior knowledge, and if you don't know where to start, maybe searching for individual tutorials is best. Learning more about Metasploit is a good starting point.
Current Status and Limitations
RedHunt is currently at version 1.0, which means it's not without issues. First, the image includes several outdated modules, and one of the OS's recommendations is to perform a general update. However, during our tests we encountered errors in repository downloads, and the most curious thing is that the OVA image (RedHunt works via VirtualBox) comes configured without enough space to receive updates. Technically, nothing prevents you from using RedHunt "out of the box", but at the same time we hope its developers make the necessary adjustments in the next build.
