A comparison published September 17 describes the A20 Pro’s reported CPU advantage over A19 Pro as mostly frequency-led: the reported frequency is 4.93 GHz, compared with 4.26 GHz for A19 Pro. After adjusting for frequency, the reported IPC change is about +3% for integer calculations and −1% for floating-point calculations. The same comparison reports larger gains in graphics and neural processing.
Why the CPU gain is mainly about clock speed
IPC means instructions per clock cycle. The comparison reports raw integer IPC figures of 9.36 for A20 Pro and 7.86 for A19 Pro, and floating-point figures of 12.09 and 10.55, respectively. Those raw values rise for both types of calculation; the comparison’s frequency-adjusted interpretation is about +3% for integer IPC and −1% for floating-point IPC.
That distinction matters: the reported CPU difference is driven mainly by the higher clock frequency, rather than a large frequency-adjusted IPC change.
Graphics and neural processing show larger reported gains
The same A20 Pro–A19 Pro comparison reports these paired results:
| Metric | A20 Pro | A19 Pro |
| Reported frequency | 4.93 GHz | 4.26 GHz |
| Integer IPC index | 9.36 | 7.86 |
| Floating-point IPC index | 12.09 | 10.55 |
| GPU cores | 7 | 6 |
| 3DMark Steel Nomad Light | 4,263 points | 3,008 points |
The reported NPU gains over A19 Pro are 83% for FP16 and 78% for INT8. FP16 and INT8 refer to numerical formats used in calculations; they are distinct measures of neural-processing performance.
The Geekbench result is a separate CPU record
https://x.com/9550pro/status/2100277070458978473/photo/1A Geekbench 7.0.0 record uploaded September 10 for iPhone19,2 lists 4,006 single-core points and 11,460 multi-core points. It also records iOS 27.0, six CPU cores and a frequency of 4.92 GHz. The association between iPhone19,2 and A20 Pro is reported; the benchmark record identifies the device as iPhone19,2.
Geekbench’s single-core and multi-core scores describe CPU performance in two different workloads. They are a separate result from the later A20 Pro–A19 Pro comparison.
U.S. availability and starting prices
General availability of iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in the United States began September 18, 2026. The iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199 for 256 GB; iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at $1,299.
