Steam Frame reservation listings were reported on eBay on September 17, 2026, after Valve opened registration for its limited drop on September 14. Another wave was reportedly listed as waitlist messages went out. Valve’s terms prohibit transferring the purchase right, so a seller cannot pass that opportunity to an eBay buyer.
Valve’s reservation right cannot be transferred
Valve’s Limited Drop gave eligible registrants a chance to be selected at random for an opportunity to buy Steam Frame. The purchase right has no cash value and cannot be transferred, assigned, bartered, or auctioned. An attempted transfer voids the opportunity.
If an eBay offer is for the reservation itself, it conflicts with those terms. Valve also says a purchase link is void if it has been altered, is counterfeit, or was obtained through fraud, theft, or other unfair or illegal acts.
What the eBay listings displayed
Two reported US listings for Steam Frame 256GB displayed asking prices of $1,899.99 and $3,999.00. One listing title included the words “Reservation Confirmation.”
eBay’s US presale rules
For presale listings on eBay in the US, the listing must clearly identify the item as a presale and state when it will be available to ship. The seller must guarantee shipment within 40 business days of purchase, with handling time accounting for obtaining the item as well as getting it to the carrier.
