Local businesses in Richland Parish, Louisiana, say Meta’s Hyperion construction has brought demand for meals, catering, water and worker housing. Louisiana Economic Development separately estimates 7,500 construction jobs at the project’s peak and about 1,000 operational jobs. Business Insider’s October 12 report describes the business accounts; the state agency’s July 13, 2026 release gives the project and employment estimates.
How construction demand reaches local businesses
The reported examples range from restaurant orders to supplies for crews. Tim Allen, cofounder of Holy Tacos, estimated that catering tied to Meta accounted for about 40% of his restaurant’s monthly business. HeBrews Coffee & Eats owner Shelbie Stephenson reported making 900 burritos and 2,500 cups of coffee during a safety week. Ice Queen cofounder David Rodgers said the company delivered about 30 to 40 pallets of water a week to construction crews.
Worker housing has also drawn demand. Angel Crawford, co-owner of Parish Line Properties, said Meta workers had placed deposits on homes before the homes were added to the Antley Pines mobile-home park. These are individual businesses’ accounts of serving the construction workforce.
What Richland Parish’s sales-tax figures show
Business Insider reported on October 12, 2026, that Grow NELA put Richland Parish’s annual sales-tax revenue at $21 million in 2024 and $39 million in 2025. Grow NELA expected the total to reach $92 million for 2026. That last figure is an expectation for the year, not a final annual collection.
The figures cover sales-tax revenue across the parish. They do not assign a share of the change to Hyperion, so the parish totals are not a project-specific measure of its economic contribution.
Construction jobs and operating jobs are different estimates
Louisiana Economic Development’s July 2026 release describes Meta’s commitment as more than $50 billion, for a campus of nearly 10 million square feet with 5 gigawatts of IT capacity. The agency’s employment estimates distinguish peak construction work from operational jobs and indirect employment across the Northeast Region.
| Employment category | Estimated jobs | Scope |
| Construction | 7,500 | At peak |
| Operational | Approximately 1,000 | At the facility |
| Indirect | 1,900 | Northeast Region |
The estimates describe different kinds of employment, not one interchangeable job total. Meta also said it had contracted more than $1.6 billion with local companies by July 2026; that is a cumulative contract figure, not a measure of local payroll or profits retained.
