The most relevant series in the Adult Swim universe returns after the special aired on April 1 that took us all by surprise. The indefinite wait caused us much anxiety, but finally, after two years, Rick and Morty return better than ever, and we couldn’t be happier.
All of us had a smile on our faces while scrolling through Twitter and stumbling upon this brief message from the series' official account that said “JULY 30”. The news quickly spread to every corner of the planet, and the question to resolve was whether it was just another special or if the new season was truly beginning.
The series' delay was explained by its co-creator Dan Harmon (along with Justin Roiland). In several tweets, Harmon dismissed any rumor of conflict or falling out with his friend and partner and implied that the script was taking them a long time. Fans were somewhat worried that the new season might never see the light of day, as several media outlets had created an atmosphere of a rift between the creators. Harmon pointed out that for the media it is less boring to say that there is a bad relationship between them than to explain what writing a script entails.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/DeAw6aXHzcY"Welcome to the darkest year of our adventures," an euphoric Rick tells a frightened Morty, announcing what's to come in this third season. The trailer revealed several things, among them a Rick transformed into a pickle and generating the usual intergalactic conflicts. We also see clear references to Men in Black and Mad Max: Fury Road. A series that always goes further and certainly won't disappoint us.
Luckily, fans won't have to wait until the end of the year as was predicted months ago, nor do we have to worry about the series' continuity. On July 30, the animated series of the moment returns, and it's going to be better than ever.
