Generally, the only thing we want from a microwave oven is for it to heat something, and its relationship with other electronic devices is not very good to say the least, but today we have a sort of "exception" to that rule. The Rocketbook Wave is a notebook that uses an app loaded on a smartphone as a "digitizer" of its content, and once it's full, all we have to do is place it in the microwave for a couple of minutes to erase its pages.
When I was young, I used to fill notebooks pretty quickly. After throwing myself headfirst into computing and spending more time typing on a keyboard, today I must tell a different story. The vast majority of notebooks and pads in my home don't have a single line written on them, and I must admit that my handwriting is worthy of a horror movie. Of course, this is only "my" case, and I know people who practically devour notebooks, consuming one page after another with all sorts of notes, sketches, drawings, plans, poems, and a long etcetera. The adventure of a notebook ends when its last page is filled, but this doesn't have to be that way, and the people behind Rocketbook Wave propose an alternative.

With a simple visit to YouTube, we can find reviews of both its first prototypes and the original round promoted on Indiegogo, but its essence remains intact. The idea here is that the user writes on the pages of this notebook with special FriXion pens, so that its ink becomes transparent when exposed to 60 degrees Celsius, and regains its color at 4 degrees (or less). The latest version of the Rocketbook Wave is microwave compatible (the original model recommended hair dryers), in which it must be accompanied by a cup of water. When it comes to saving the content of the pages, Rocketbook Wave has an app available for iOS and Android that visually captures each page and stores it in our preferred online services, thanks to a series of programmable symbols located at the bottom of the notebook.
This new round of the Rocketbook Wave is taking place on Kickstarter, and with a week to go it has surpassed $400,000. The notebook with one FriXion pen costs $27, although there are quantity discounts. If you want more pens, the three-pack costs seven dollars, and as for sizes, it comes in standard (21.59 by 24.13 centimeters) and executive (22.6 by 14.73 centimeters). First deliveries, in August.
