What GRAB covers for ROLI devices
GRAB’s maintainers describe it as a standalone configuration tool that uses MIDI System Exclusive messages, or SysEx. They say it does not require ROLI Dashboard, ROLI Connect, a ROLI hardware driver, an account login or ROLI servers. Its listed devices include Seaboard Block and Block M, Seaboard RISE 2 and the original RISE 25/49, Seaboard GRAND, ROLI Piano 49, and Piano M/LUMI Keys. The supported configurations vary by device. The boundaries matter if you are checking a particular instrument. GRAB does not cover Airwave configuration or upload firmware. It can read and write shared settings on Lightpad Block, but does not manage its apps or modes. Live and Loop control blocks are listed for button read/write; Touch Block support remains unconfirmed by the project’s maintainers.
A separate practice option for ROLI Piano
ROLI Learn 4 All is a community project for practicing MIDI files on a ROLI Piano. Its creators describe falling-note visuals, piano audio and illuminated keys. The browser setup calls for desktop Chrome, a USB-connected Piano and MIDI/SysEx access; a Windows driver may also be needed. The project says key lights work only for notes within the Piano’s current octave range. If you run Ableton, its ROLI control surface should be closed to avoid competing lighting commands. What customers have reported
WIRED reported individual customer accounts of paid orders that had not arrived, delayed replies and difficulty obtaining refunds. Those are buyers’ accounts, rather than a verified total of affected orders. The Gazette appointment notice names administrators, but does not specify a customer refund outcome.
