For many, a true passion. For others, an ornament that ends up gathering dust in a corner after several moments of frustration. Now, if you already have a Rubik's cube and want to join that first group that lives and breathes that challenge, you need to start somewhere. Getting a little help on the web isn't a bad idea, so we come to RubikSolve, a portal where you can solve your Rubik's cube under any configuration, and in fewer than 25 moves.
The search for the so-called “God’s Algorithm” for solving a Rubik's cube is longer than we think. In the late ’90s, it was said to be 42 moves. In 2008, we thought it was 23. Finally, in July 2010, we discovered that the ideal minimum number was 20. Add to that robots that can solve it faster than a human, and of course, the crown jewel: the self-solving Rubik's cube.
But what about you? If you're reading these lines, it's because you want to solve that Rubik's cube that has been sitting on the shelf for years, and which you've looked at with irritation more than once. Very well... some might say that my next suggestion amounts to “cheating”, but I see it as a creative alternative. Although the Rubik's cube is no Kobayashi Maru, I think Captain Kirk's strategy is a good option here. That said, let's visit the RubikSolve portal.
The solution for any Rubik configuration
The mechanics are simple: take your unsolved Rubik's cube, reproduce the color pattern on each face on the RubikSolve model, and click the Solve Cube button. If you need additional references, use the cubes that indicate the front, sides, back, up and down. Example Cube lets you load an example cube, while Superflip sets the colors for twenty moves. The rest is a matter of following the steps. Identify the corresponding side, and move by repeating the values, either a quarter turn or a half turn.
My example cube was solved in just 21 moves, a result completely beyond my reach. Therefore, I recommend you try it and use RubikSolve to solve the most rebellious Rubik's cubes. At the same time, this will help you recognize movement patterns, a fundamental step if you decide to prioritize speed later. Enjoy!
