It's obvious that something changed with the release of DeepDream. When Google decided that its neural network should 'dream' and modify images, the interest of users basically focused on "how can we do something like that". Experts and enthusiasts took DeepDream's code and started exploring it. One of the most interesting side projects is DeepDreamVideo, which used part of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas as a proof of concept, probably the "ideal movie" for this case. However, one of the requirements from those responsible for DeepDream was that users share their images on social networks with the hashtag #deepdream, so that it is easier for each researcher to study the results.
The DeepDream Bot was presented on the web as the ideal solution. Besides drastically simplifying access to DeepDream's code with an automated interface, it also takes care of publishing each processed image on Twitter, increasing its exposure. Users are uploading all kinds of images to the bot: landscapes, animals, hand-drawn sketches, video game captures, babies, buildings, comics, TV series, and adult movie scenes. Almost unanimously, DeepDream's code modifies the photos by discovering eyes and faces of animals, a detail that ultimately exposes the neural network's limitations.
Are you ready to upload your images to DeepDream Bot? No problem, just make sure they are saved in JPG format, and be prepared to wait a bit. The bot publishes on Twitter in batches of ten or twenty images at a time, but the waiting list is much longer than it appears. You should also keep in mind that the bot performs no censorship whatsoever. Some of the images that appear there are definitely NSFW, so be careful that DeepDream Bot doesn't cause problems at your work, or in some other not-so-appropriate place...
