Samsung announces the Galaxy Tab S12+ and Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra on September 30, 2026, and says availability is scheduled to begin October 7. Both tablets use MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500, but differ in display size, battery capacity, rear cameras and Wi-Fi. A presenter at an early, Samsung-invited hands-on states U.S. starting prices of $1,199.99 for the S12+ and $1,399.99 for the Ultra.
What both Galaxy Tab S12 models share
Samsung lists the Dimensity 9500, Android 17 and One UI 9 for both tablets. Each has a 120 Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, four-channel spatial audio, an IP68 rating and a bundled S Pen. The pen does not support BLE, or Bluetooth Low Energy.
Both displays are listed at up to 1,600 nits peak brightness and 1,000 nits in High Brightness Mode. Samsung bases its IP68 rating on laboratory submersion in freshwater up to 1.5 meters deep for up to 30 minutes; it does not recommend beach or pool use.
Galaxy Tab S12+ vs. S12 Ultra: the key differences
The S12+ has a 12.6-inch display; the S12 Ultra has a 14.6-inch display. Samsung’s specifications also distinguish the two models by battery, rear-camera configuration and Wi-Fi standard.

Samsung’s playback estimates come from internal testing on pre-release hardware: the test used a locally stored 720p video, Bluetooth earphones, default settings and an LTE connection. Samsung says actual playback time varies with factors including network, settings, brightness and battery condition.
Samsung also lists 5G versions of both tablets, with dual SIM—one physical SIM and one eSIM—on 5G models. The Ultra has a 13 MP main rear camera plus an 8 MP ultra-wide camera; the S12+ has one 13 MP rear camera. Both have a 12 MP ultra-wide front camera. Storage options reach 1 TB on the Ultra and 512 GB on the S12+, and both support microSD cards up to 2 TB.

What Samsung’s performance claims mean
Samsung says the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra delivers up to 61% higher NPU processing, 19% higher CPU performance and 17% improved GPU power compared with the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra. An NPU, or neural processing unit, handles AI-related computing tasks. Samsung says the figures depend on the user environment, conditions, preinstalled software and applications.
