Samsung began the stable One UI 9 rollout on September 16, 2026, starting with the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra in South Korea. Samsung says the update will expand gradually to more Galaxy devices; the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Flip8 had already received One UI 9 before this smartphone rollout began.

For Galaxy S26 owners, this is the move from beta testing to the stable release. The most visible additions focus on camera editing, contextual information, privacy, and device support rather than a single sweeping redesign.

What changes with One UI 9

My FanCam keeps a subject in frame

My FanCam can track a selected person in recorded video and automatically reframe the footage to keep that person centered. Samsung notes that the feature requires a Samsung Account and that its availability and accuracy can vary depending on the video and device.

Now Brief becomes more customizable

Now Brief adds Generative Cards and Editable Cards for information such as health, weather, and video. Now Nudge provides context-aware suggestions, while the functions available to you can depend on your country, language, device, apps, network conditions, and Samsung Account status.

More tools move into the system software

One UI 9 also includes:

  • Warranty and Care, which brings warranty information, self-diagnostics, repair estimates, Samsung Care+, and service appointments into Settings where the feature is available.
  • Improved document scanning.
  • Structured summaries for Voice Recorder recordings.
  • Security Brief.
  • Privacy Alerts, which use on-device AI to flag potential privacy risks, including unnecessary background permission access.
  • Scam Detection in the markets Samsung names for the feature: Japan, Canada, and India.

A feature listed for One UI 9 is not automatically available on every Galaxy phone. Samsung ties access to the specific model, market, language, carrier, app, account, and sometimes an internet connection.

Which Galaxy phones receive the update first?

Samsung’s first smartphone group is:

  • Galaxy S26
  • Galaxy S26+
  • Galaxy S26 Ultra

Samsung says additional Galaxy devices will follow gradually. Earlier beta access included other Galaxy models, but beta participation does not provide a stable-release date for those phones.

How to check for One UI 9 on a Galaxy S26

On the phone, open Settings, choose Software update, and select Download and install or Check for updates, depending on the wording shown on the device. If One UI 9 has reached the phone’s rollout group, Samsung will display the available package there.

The rollout began in South Korea, and Samsung is expanding it in stages rather than treating the September 16 start as a simultaneous release for every Galaxy device and market.
