Samsung Galaxy A16 suits buyers looking for an affordable phone with an AMOLED display, NFC, dual SIM and expandable storage. Its main trade-off is performance, alongside a 5,000 mAh battery that holds less capacity than most phones of its time.
The 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display reaches 800 nits and runs at 90 Hz. The panel is one of the phone’s clearest reasons to buy, although its refresh rate is worse than most phones of its time. At 7.9 mm, the body is thinner than most phones in its period, and IP54 adds protection from dust and water. Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, USB-C and broad navigation support make the connectivity practical.
This version combines 4 GB of RAM with 128 GB of storage. Galaxy A16 is also sold in 6 GB / 128 GB and 8 GB / 256 GB configurations. Performance is worse than most phones of its time: the MediaTek Helio G99 and AnTuTu score of 387,422 define a basic hardware profile. The 50 MP main camera has a typical resolution, but its 1/2.76″ sensor is smaller than most, and optical image stabilization is absent. Battery capacity is worse than most, while 25 W charging is typical.
