Sawtooth is an online audio editor that packs several useful features for creating your own sounds with ease. You can apply predefined filters such as Lowpass, Band Reject, Chorus, Highpass, Fade, Phaser, and Bandpass, or use its built-in synthesizer to convert sounds into Pluck, White Noise, Pink Noise, Brown Noise, Sine, and more. One of the most practical functions is the ability to record your voice using a microphone and then edit it, letting you create songs, voiceovers, or tutorials.
Getting Started
Using Sawtooth is very simple. Once you visit its website (you'll need to register), a panel will open where you have to load a folder for the audio files you'll create. After creating the Set, just click on it to begin loading audio files. Inside this folder you'll find all the filters, synthesizers, and recorder to start editing clips.
To upload a file, just click “Upload” and you can import any audio from your computer (MP3, WAV, FLAC, AU, etc.). Once the upload is complete, you'll have access to the editor. In the bottom right corner, you'll see all the file details (channel, frequency, levels, etc.). Above these details you'll find the “Filter” button, from which you can apply the preset filters.
Filters and Synthesis
Some of the filters you'll encounter are Band Reject, Chorus, Echo, Equalizer, Fade, Gain, Highpass, Lowpass, Overdrive, and Phaser. Most filters come with customization options such as frequency, Q Factor, and Target.
To synthesize new sounds, click Synth, and from a pop-up window you'll see all the preset sounds (Sine, Square, Triangle, Sawtooth, Pluck, White Noise, Pink Noise, Brown Noise, among others).
Recording Audio
To record any sound, click “Record” and from a pop-up window you can start the recording by clicking “Start Recording”.
