Released by Brazilian science and culture magazine Superinteressante, Science Kombat is the new browser game where some of the best human scientists fight in Street Fighter-style battles. This game is a tribute to the classic fighting games of the 90s and to the greatest scientists of history, where you have a roster of eight heavyweights of science, such as Albert Einstein, Charles Darwin, Nikola Tesla, Isaac Newton, Stephen Hawking, Pythagoras, Marie Curie and Alan Turing.
Special Abilities
The fights are one-on-one and each fighter has strong and weak attacks along with a series of special abilities based on their scientific knowledge. For example, Hawking can create black holes to damage his opponent, while Curie uses the power of her radioactive hands to unleash a fireball similar to Ryu's Hadouken. Each fighter has two special abilities that you can perform with a series of moves. You can see the execution moves before each fight. And don't worry, even though the game is in Portuguese, it's not hard to understand. Science Kombat is quite basic since it has two modes.
Game Modes
The main mode is the Tournament, where you choose your favorite fighter and face off against the other scientists until you reach the final boss, a hidden character whose identity we won't reveal because it's one of the best surprises of the game. The other mode is to play a fight against any opponent you want, ideal for practicing your fighter's moves before diving into the tournament. Developed by Superinteressante, Science Kombat is available to play for free from the browser. Soon there will be a mobile app and it is expected to include more scientists in the fight.
