SemiAnalysis estimated on September 25, 2026, that ByteDance accounts for roughly one-fifth of China’s delivered data-center capacity. The estimate describes ByteDance’s share of capacity, while SemiAnalysis says the company rents nearly all of its data-center footprint.
China’s capacity figures cover three different stages
SemiAnalysis’s model tracks more than 1,000 facilities operated by over 60 companies. It estimates China’s delivered data-center capacity at more than 24 gigawatts (GW), separately from about 20 GW in the dated pipeline and about 30 GW in announced projects.
| Capacity stage | Estimate | What it describes |
| Delivered capacity | More than 24 GW | Capacity already delivered |
| Dated pipeline | About 20 GW | Capacity in the dated project pipeline |
| Announced projects | About 30 GW | Announced data-center projects |
ByteDance rents nearly all its data-center footprint
SemiAnalysis describes ByteDance as China’s largest data-center tenant and says the company rents nearly all its footprint. It also identifies self-build clusters in Datong, Shanxi; Wuhu, Anhui; and Horinger and Ulanqab in Inner Mongolia.
