Shot is a Spanish project that, through a campaign on Kickstarter, wants to bring you into the world of virtual reality (VR) with an iPhone.
We've seen several VR projects in recent times, such as Oculus Rift, Google Cardboard, and an endless etcetera. But in Shot we see some things we really like, which set it apart from the rest and bring it closer to us and to someone like you, dear reader.
We're not going to go into great detail; to see what you can do with Shot, the best thing is to visit the Kickstarter campaign. We do encourage you to participate, since for just €50 you get a complete kit with the necessary lens and the Cardboard. Only 23 days left. They ship worldwide.
We can tell you that Shot was born from a video in which the great John Carmack (thanks for so many moments of joy) tells us that the most complicated part of virtual reality will be making it reach ordinary people, through simple and inexpensive devices, so that the subject really becomes popular.
That encourages these two engineers to think of a proposal like Shot. A project that starts with a lens on an iPhone (the Android version is on the way) and an Instagram-style app so that everyone can share their videos. We'll no longer see feet on the beach and breakfasts as a simple static photo.
Why we like Shot
- The developers are two: a Spaniard (Jorge Lería) and a Brazilian (William Viana). There's no multimillion-dollar company behind them, yet.
- They met at Tuenti. Working at Tuenti, not like you and your girlfriend.
- They have a lot of brains and desire to work, like (we hope) most of our readers.
From NeoTeo we wish these two phenomena all the best so they can reach their goal of $100,000 and make Shot a reality, no longer so virtual.
