Recently, Skype launched its “Interviews” service, which lets you chat or make video calls with encryption. These encrypted interviews are completely free and have no limits on the number of interviews or guests. In parallel to the launch of “Skype Interviews”, the company has also added the “Whiteboard” service, which allows you to add a whiteboard to Skype’s encrypted interviews.
Starting an Interview
- Once you go to the Skype Interviews webpage, you will need to click the “Start interview now” button so the platform generates a URL that other users can use to join your interview room.
- At this point, you only need to click the “Go to Interview” button to open the interview room. If you are not registered with Skype, you will need to do so. The environment also offers you the possibility of signing in with your account from: LinkedIn, Office 365, Google, Facebook or GitHub.
As you can see, the Skype Interviews interface is very pleasant and easy to understand, and you can see the few but useful services at a glance.
Using the Whiteboard
- For our purposes, to use the Whiteboard during an interview you must click the brush icon, located on the left side. After doing this, the webcam screen will move to the right and the whiteboard canvas will appear.
- At the top you will find the following functions: pencil, eraser, color change option for both the pencil and the stroke. In addition to drawing, you can insert text and add symbols (line, rectangles and ellipses).
The Boardroom Experience
Whenever you imagine a business interview, you picture a large oval wooden table, a spacious and bright room with large windows that let you see the city from the 24th floor, and a speaker giving a presentation on a big whiteboard. Thanks to Skype Interviews, we have almost all the elements; we only lack a room on the 24th floor of a luxurious building in the middle of the city, but something is something.
