Slain!: A Tribute to the Hack and Slash of Yesteryear
Slain!

If you're in the mood for an adventure in the style of classics like Altered Beast and Golden Axe, then get ready to enjoy Slain!, a tribute to the hack and slash of yesteryear with extreme doses of action and blood in a gothic adventure like you've never seen.

Seven Towers Under Seven Rulers

Today, if you mention a hack and slash, the first thing that comes to mind is Dark Souls - very difficult and bloody games but with an incredible dose of action. And this Slain! will follow that same path with an adventure that introduces us to Bathoryn, a lycanthrope hero who must free the world from the control of seven great towers under the dominion of seven powerful rulers. To do so, he must traverse the condemned lands of a gothic world, defeating a wide variety of monsters such as werewolves and bloodthirsty skeletons, dodging several deadly traps, and solving some puzzles, to reach the end of each tower and face its ruler.

Gameplay That Honors the Old School

Slain! is a tribute to the hack and slash of yesteryear, like the classics Ghosts 'n Goblins and Shadow of the Beast, and as such the gameplay will be very difficult when traversing each of the towers. In fact, each area is divided into two sections, starting with a horizontal one where you must cross a path to reach the tower, placing greater focus on the character's combat skills. The other is a vertical section that takes place while climbing the tower with platforming and puzzle elements, accompanied by traps and a boss at the end.

Combat, Crowdfunding, and Launch

When fighting, Bathoryn has five different attacks that differ in degrees of power and with a specific use. From a combo that ends in a bloody decapitation to magical attacks like fireballs and a powerful explosion, these are just some of the attacks you can use to defend yourself. For now, the developers of this project have started a fundraising campaign through the site Kickstarter. The game needs $12,000 to fund itself and, as is customary, all those who support the project with a donation will be rewarded with copies of the game, signed art, and the soundtrack. Slain! is being developed by Wolf Brew Games and will be available on Windows, Mac, and Linux. For now the game doesn't have a concrete release date, but it's expected to be released in May 2015.
