If you work using the internet, it's likely that in the middle of a workday you get distracted browsing the web. But have you ever wondered how much time you lose just by getting distracted? Now you can find out with Sloth Worth, an extension that tells you how much time you spend procrastinating on the web.
How Sloth Worth Works
Working with a computer can be a difficult task. Sometimes you can get distracted for a few minutes (or a few hours) watching YouTube videos or checking your Facebook account; it's easy to waste time on the web without realizing it. If you are a masochist and want to know exactly how much time (and money) your idle browsing is costing you, now you can discover it thanks to Sloth Worth, an extension that tells you how much time you spend procrastinating on the web. This extension tracks your browsing and counts the time you spend on distracting sites, and shows you how much money you could be making if you were working instead.
Tracking Your Time and Money
Sloth Worth asks you to enter an hourly rate and then tracks how much time you "waste" on the web during the day, quantifying it in a dollar amount equivalent to your hourly rate (note that the extension supports all currencies and multiple visual styles). So if you earn $30 an hour and spend three hours on Facebook, you've essentially wasted $90. Unfortunately, you can't configure which sites count as leisure time. This means it could mistakenly count some sites you need for work in the same way as Facebook.
The Time Clock and Reports
While the running total may be quite useless for most users, the time clock in the corner of a website is surprisingly useful. The time clock on the screen serves as a great digital representation of time, and it's the stimulus (or guilt) you might need to close some pages and get to work. So far the extension already knows 1,500 popular distracting sites and presents daily, weekly, and monthly reports of your activities. The Sloth Worth extension is available to download on Chrome and Firefox.
