Sonic has, by far, the most active fan community in the multiverse. Not even Super Mario has a cult of fans as faithful and devoted as Sega's hedgehog! We have seen over the years at NeoTeo everything from modifications of the original games, HD remakes, fan-games built from scratch of excellent quality, an open-source version, among thousands of other things. And now, while we wait for Sonic Mania, which promises a return to the origins of the license, we can get addicted to Sonic Time Twisted.
The story
Sonic Time Twisted takes place in a parallel universe (not canon, of course), after the destruction of Dr. Eggman in his Death Star. Metal Sonic, the villain of the story, does not resign himself to the loss of his master and begins to travel through time to revive him, using alien technology. Of course, Sonic and the gang won't let such a thing happen, much less after all the work they put into destroying the evil scientist. They will only need the Chaos Emeralds and the Time Stones to return to the exact moment when Metal Sonic will try to save Eggman, Terminator style.
Development and gameplay
Developed by Overbound over the course of 12 years, Sonic Time Twisted is both a new game and a tribute to the 16-bit era classics. In terms of gameplay, it hardly differs from the classics of yore, seeming like a worthy sequel to Sega. It includes many new things: new levels (in past and future time), new enemies, new end-of-level bosses, and brand-new original bonus screens. In other words, it feels and plays like a Sonic of a lifetime. As if that were not enough, it has original music composed specifically for the game.
