If you're a fan of Sega's famous blue hedgehog, then you have to try this demo. It's about Sonic Utopia, a fan-made open-world Sonic game.
What is Sonic Utopia?
Sonic Utopia is a fan-made open-world Sonic game. The project is led by The Great Lange, Murasaki, Tpot, and Pixy, who clarify in the video description that "Sonic Utopia is an experiment that not only tries to expand Sonic's gameplay in an intuitive way in 3D, but also seeks to capture the best styles of the franchise and connect them in a great experience. Almost everything shown in this demo, from the art, sound, and system, was made from scratch."
Gameplay and Developers
As you can see in the video, the animation and models of Sonic Utopia look great. With a version of the classic Green Hill level in an open world, Sonic runs freely, jumping from side to side, showing off his speedy spins while collecting rings and eliminating the enemies that cross his path. To make this demo, each of those involved took charge of a specific area: The Great Lange is responsible for creating all the models, animation, most of the textures, sound, and music; Murasaki has been in charge of programming the graphics engine and gameplay; while Tpot and Pixy worked on programming and additional illustrations.
Try the Demo
The project made its debut at SAGE 2016, an annual online event for Sonic fans where they present completed and unfinished games they are developing. Without a doubt, this Sonic Utopia demo is the ideal option to play while we wait for the release of Sonic Mania next year. Developed by The Great Lange, Murasaki, Tpot, and Pixy, Sonic Utopia is available on Windows.
