Fortunately, speech recognition is no longer a nightmare, and apart from the occasional mistake, it works pretty well. So what’s the best voice-to-text dictation option? There are plenty of robust tools, but today we’re going to suggest SpeechTexter, which runs directly in Google Chrome without needing to install any extra software.

I still remember the early versions of Dragon NaturallySpeaking, which we had to train for days just so it could (more or less) understand what we were saying. Things have improved a lot since then, thanks to virtual assistants, artificial intelligence, and new processing methods.
SpeechTexter: Voice to Text Dictation
So we come to SpeechTexter, an online dictation tool based on Google’s speech recognition engine. Its developers claim accuracy rates above 90 percent, although in practice it depends on factors like background noise, microphone quality, accents, and more.
The site offers a basic word processor similar to Google Docs, with several font options, color controls, formatting, and bullet points. To change the recognition language, you just click the button at the top right of the interface. SpeechTexter supports twenty Spanish variants, though I doubt there are major differences between them.
The only major technical limitation is that SpeechTexter works exclusively in Google Chrome. On your first visit, the browser will ask for permission to use your microphone, and from there it’s just a matter of speaking. But don’t forget that your audio goes through Google’s servers. If the text is sensitive, contains confidential passages, or you simply want more privacy, you’re better off using the keyboard...
