The Original Trilogy

If you grew up with a PlayStation, you surely played Spyro the Dragon, a platforming classic. Released in 1998 for Sony's console, Spyro introduced us to the Dragon Realms, a highly detailed fully three-dimensional world in which you had to travel through several levels to rescue his fellow dragons and recover the treasure stolen from the claws of Gnasty Gnorc. The game was a success and had two more sequels, forming a trilogy on PlayStation, then becoming a multiplatform game and appearing on other consoles and handhelds with several installments, but none reached the success of the original trilogy.

A Fan Recreation

It's now been almost a decade since his last adventure, The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon (2008), before making his way into the Skylanders series in 2011, and to this day there's no news of a new game. And while fans are loudly asking for a re-release of the original trilogy like what happened a few months ago with Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, a user known as Valefor got to work to recreate Spyro the Dragon in Unreal 4. This recreation includes a fully playable level where you can play as the beloved Spyro accompanied by his best friend, the dragonfly Sparx.

The level has a Christmas theme and includes gems to collect and treasure chests to break. You can even see several portals to travel to other worlds, but they are only decorative. When controlling the dragon, Spyro has his classic moves like jumping and gliding using his wings, and performing two types of attacks: charging with his long horns and breathing fire. Developed by Valefor, this version of Spyro the Dragon in Unreal 4 is available for free download.
