The countdown to December 18 brings us closer every day, and you can almost feel sorry for the movies that will go head-to-head with The Force Awakens. The seventh installment of the Star Wars saga will likely crush anything that gets in its way, and all the preparations only feed that idea. Now Google is joining the hype, offering special themes and icons based on the film.
We're almost completely surrendered to the new Star Wars movie, full of questions that haven't even had an attempt at an answer. The calendar says there's less than a month to go, but the wait feels too long. Disney is distributing content related to The Force Awakens with a cruelty we could associate with psychological warfare. Images, short clips, promotions, toys, unexpected trailers... they've basically covered every angle. Star Wars has even reached unusual places, such as programming.

That's right: thanks to a new deal between Mountain View and Disney, users of Google's most important services can enjoy new themes based on the dark side and the light side. Some of the elements we can spot are changes in the icons (Google Maps uses an X-Wing or a TIE Fighter), the introduction of the Aurebesh language in Google Translate, images for Google Chrome when you open a new tab, and a modified look for Gmail, which uses Imperial Army or Tatooine backgrounds.
Needless to say, you can switch sides whenever you want, and returning to the original configuration is as simple as a couple of clicks. Google confirmed there are several hidden Easter eggs, and that more material will arrive in the coming days (including a special Millennium Falcon version for Cardboard users) as the premiere approaches. Can there be such a thing as 'enough' Star Wars? Honestly... I don't think I'm fooling anyone. The answer is a resounding no.
