Everyone wants to create videos, but very few are willing to sit through online tutorials to master advanced software. Many people are out there waiting for Microsoft to deliver a solid equivalent to the classic Windows Movie Maker, and with the announcement of the Fall Creators Update, their wish is about to come true. The new Story Remix will use nothing less than artificial intelligence to process user content and produce high-quality short films.
The Legacy of Windows Movie Maker
The story tells us that Windows Movie Maker came to light with Windows Me. It also went through XP and Vista, but the magic ended in 2009 when it was transferred to Windows Live Essentials, breaking support for previous projects and removing many features. On January 10 of this year, Microsoft removed all download links for Movie Maker, and promises to replace it with a new edition in the Windows Store never materialized. The void worried many users, and it deepened when it was confirmed that the "Creators" Update of Windows 10 offered nothing to those who wanted to "create" videos. However, the announcement of the Fall Creators Update at the Build conference put Story Remix on the table, and finally we are going to have an heir.

Granted, it doesn't look bad. The idea of pouring artificial intelligence and deep learning into content processing can lead to very interesting results, not to mention its potential for evolution. With each video it creates, Story Remix should adapt better to the users' wishes (such as detecting in advance which is the "favorite star" in the videos), and pressing the Remix button is just the first step. Microsoft will combine the new editor with Remix 3D resources and Paint 3D for the insertion of effects, and three-dimensional objects with the ability to follow the action.
Mobile and Sound Integration
The soundtracks can be loaded from Groove, and obviously there will be an app compatible with iOS and Android, so that the editor has the option to take photos and videos stored on those devices. Personally, I think Microsoft should offer Story Remix today, but we will have to wait until September.
