The stock market is a world of dreams and nightmares, of long and short strategies, of people hoping to be saved by a stroke of luck, of corporations turned into empires... and empires turned into trash. All of that happens to the rhythm of money and arrows going up and down, but if we take money out of the equation, what is left? According to the folks at Stradr, an excellent training ground. Would you like to buy and sell stocks without risking real money to see how good (or bad) you are at reading the market? Create an account at Stradr, and start playing.

Simulator of buying and selling stocks

Games based on markets, trade, and economy are not exactly new. Personally, I remember classics like the Elite series and the colorful Gazillionaire, which, under a science fiction context, propose the most effective strategy of all: Buy low and sell high.

But the real world is much more complex. You can bet on successes or failures, follow the line of "blue chips", or play in favor of a relative unknown. The people at Stradr allow us to enter that storm with some safety: using their simulator of buying and selling stocks. Each user has 100,000 fictitious dollars at their disposal, and the goal is to make that number grow.

Simulating stock purchases and sales with Stradr

The Stradr interface is divided into three sections: Market, with a general report of all available companies, Positions, where we can view our orders and existing positions, and the Leaderboard with the most successful users. From here, you can dive right in and make your first purchases... or start reading Bloomberg and Financial Times.

For example: At the time of writing, the United States is a giant frozen popsicle, which could become an opportunity for some energy companies, and a harsh article focused on Amazon's plastic waste in India could apply a little pressure on the e-commerce giant.

Even though they're fictitious... those 100k greenbacks burn

If you want to know more about a company, all you have to do is click on its "ticker", i.e., the expression they use to describe it on NASDAQ. That will take you to the official profile, the evolution of its price, and the latest data on its financial situation. The rest is buying, waiting, selling, and never putting all your eggs in the same basket. Stradr gives us the privilege of making serious mistakes without any risk, but who knows? Maybe you are much better at this than you imagine...
