Sharing free resources such as packs of icons, image banks, and vector emojis is one of our specialties. We have previously explored platforms like Flaticon, Sensa Emoji, Tilda Publishing, and the Iconduck search engine, but today we want to highlight Streamline Core, with a selection of 4,000 free, vector, and open source icons that adapt to any idea or need.
Saving time is essential for any developer or designer, and this becomes possible thanks to the immense amount of resources available on the Web that, besides being free, also have very flexible licenses. For example, what's the point of designing icons from scratch when there are excellent-quality open source packs ready to use? In most cases, the only thing their original creators ask for is attribution, and that brings us to Streamline Core, with an initial selection of 4,000 icons.
Streamline Core: 4,000 open source icons at no cost
The icons are divided into four categories of a thousand icons each: Line, Solid, Duo, and Flat. Line and Solid basically work as opposites, Duo combines two different tones, and Flat eliminates hard lines in favor of simpler designs. In turn, the icons appear stored in subcategories such as Shipping, Work Education, Nature Ecology, Artificial Intelligence, Health, and Interface Essential, among others.
To download an icon, all we have to do is select it from the list, define the parameters in the right section of the interface (this includes format, size, color, and background), and finally click the Download button. The SVG copies allow us to achieve a certain level of flexibility with these icons, testing other color combinations, and the dynamic size or 'responsive' option.
So, what's the catch? What does the fine print say? On one hand, the icons are CC-BY-4.0, a license that requires attribution, suitable for any artistic, educational, and entertainment project. On the other hand, we cannot download the entire packages. That shortcut is available in the premium section of Streamline, or with a one-time payment of 99 dollars per pack, which expands the number of icons to 3,302.
