Generating images with artificial intelligence can become a real lottery. Sometimes the model's results are very good, but there is always some object or element that needs to be retouched or replaced. That's how we arrive at the Swap Anything feature from ImgCreator, which uses an algorithm to erase, replace, or rebuild any detail.
Preparing a good prompt is essential to optimize the results of a generative image model... but it's not perfect either. More than once, the model often ignores specific details entirely, or replaces them with an alternative that isn't quite good. Fortunately, there is the technique of "inpainting", which allows us to create a mask over the object to edit, and order the algorithm to "try again".
The ImgCreator portal has several tools for generating images with AI and removing backgrounds, but now includes a function called Swap Anything. It's a much more intuitive and controlled version of inpainting, where we can use the mouse to select and change objects, without downloading extra software or fighting with advanced settings.
How to change objects in an image with AI using Swap Anything
We must create an account to access the service, but Swap Anything supports alternative credentials (e.g., Google). The first step is to upload our image (or use one of the available samples), then we select the objects to replace, and once the mask is confirmed, we add a prompt and define how strong the influence of the original image should be. Personally, I recommend using the prompt in all cases, while the influence index is open to experimentation.
In a matter of seconds, Swap Anything will present its results, which in the free edition are two images with a maximum resolution of 1024x1024. Any upscaling attempt within ImgCreator consumes credits, but this object change can be repeated at no charge (for now). In general, the algorithm makes good decisions; however, the most important limitation of Swap Anything is the lack of precision in mask selection. There are almost no errors when we mark hair, a dress, or the entire background, but in my tests I could never select the eyes (the mask reaches the whole face).
Still, Swap Anything definitely deserves your time. All those images that need a minimal touch-up can be completely transformed, and from a certain point of view, "rescued". To finish, you may end up in a waiting queue when the load is high, but it never reaches extreme levels like the ones we saw in ClipDrop. Give it a try!
