In general, everything we have seen so far about wearable devices points to strictly personal activities. So what would a wearable device designed to share content and establish a collaborative environment between two users look like? The answer comes from Telepathy Jumper, a product from the land of the rising sun.
There is no doubt that 2014 gave us an impressive number of wearable devices. From simple sensors to dedicated extensions for our smartphones, companies have explored shapes, functions, and aesthetics alike. Now... there is also no doubt that wearable devices need much more development than they have had so far. None of them has completely seduced users, a detail that could annihilate this market before it gains strength. Google Glass assumed the role of ambassador in its time, but the radio silence in Mountain View speaks for itself. The current offering of wearable devices is insufficient, and companies are likely forced to study different concepts.
Which leads us to the next question: How does a wearable device manage to be different? The creators of the Telepathy Jumper accessory believe they have the key. At first glance, Telepathy Jumper seems to imitate Google Glass, but its integrated functions establish differences almost immediately. Telepathy Jumper will have two special usage modes: Eye Connect and Talent Buzz. Eye Connect mode will allow the user to share what they are seeing with someone else, while Talent Buzz will create a collaborative environment to exchange all kinds of skills, knowledge, and general information. The screen of Telepathy Jumper has a resolution of 960 by 540 pixels, its camera goes up to five megapixels, and internal storage is eight gigabytes. Its creators highlight the possibility of wearing it around the neck, on the eye, or attached to a glasses frame.
The official page gives no details about the price of Telepathy Jumper, but it does indicate that the enterprise version of the device will be available starting in March, followed by the general consumer edition a few months later. Telepathy Jumper will make an appearance at the next CES, which already promises to be loaded with wearable devices, to such a point that it will be very difficult to cover them all. The competition that Telepathy Jumper faces is strong, but its vision is different, and perhaps it can succeed where the rest failed.
